A true great of the game. I hope the AFL finds an appropriate way to pay tribute to Doc Baldock during the 2011 season.

Although I'm a Collingwood supporter, I must admit the image of The Doc holding the premiership cup aloft whilst wearing Tuddy's guernsey is one of the most memorable football photos. Just imagine the uproar today if the winning team's major sponsor did not have their logo emblazoned on chest of the premiership captain's photo! Things were a lot simpler back in the 60s.

GEELONG legend Bob Davis has died, aged 82.

Davis, who has been ill in recent months, was admitted to hospital on the weekend and died suddenly on Monday night.

He played 189 games with the Cats from 1948-58, including the 1951-52 premierships, and was club captain from 1955-58.

He then coached the Cats from 1960-65, taking them to the 1963 premiership.

Davis then forged a long and successful career in the football media.
given my age i only ever knew him as a tv personailty but loved what he did.

Recruited to Geelong from the Victorian gold mining town Clunes, Davis famously took himself to training at South Melbourne in 1946 in a bid to join the Swans, the team he supported as a child.

After being told three times by then South Melbourne coach Bill Adams to "nick off", a miffed Davis took the hint.

Very sad day for Geelong and Football

We are losing all our legends.

Loved watching him on World Of Sport and Sevens League Teams when I was growing up.
