You would hope that Roos would rectify that, given his previous role in player develop at Sydney, but yeah I get what you're saying.

Yep, They would stuff him up and even if he had the Choice he would not go there

A question for the draft rules gurus here.

First, assume that we have to go to a round 1 pick for Moore because other clubs bid his price up. Now assume that we finish 9th and Sydney win the flag. (Just for example.) That gives us pick 10, ignoring any specials and priority picks; Sydney gets 18. Can we trade that pick 10 to Sydney in exchange (say) for their pick 18 and another pick, and still use that later first-round pick to take Moore? Or do we have to keep our original pick, whatever that happens to be?

I'm assuming the rules say no, you can't do that, but does someone know for sure?

Father/Son bidding takes place about a week before the trading window opens. So if we're locked into taking Moore at, say, pick 10, we can't move that pick on for pick 18 from Sydney (or anyone else, for that matter...)

The quote shown in the original post stated he could be the best player in the draft. That is what I was referring to.

Don't downplay the kid, he's going to be drafted by Collingwood as a father son pick.

He'll win the Brownlow, Copeland, Coleman, Norm Smith and AFLPA MVP in his first season which will go great with the premiership medallion.

I think it did mean best father/son player.

He has been touted as a top 5 pick by some, and that's without having a lot of games under his belt. The under 18s carnival is where his value will be judged more precisely. The draft never really takes shape till after that anyway.
Well done boys!

He will be a top selection in the draft and we'll have to give up our first rounder for him.
He will take a few years to develop but I reckon he looks like he'll be a good player for us.
Everyone will compare him to his father, or their memories of his father, or their father's memories of his father, and so he may never quite be good enough, which is sad, until he wins his third brownlow ;)

Sadly, I think the hype will build over the year. Heaven help us if he has a good carnival.

After a season of SANFL football I wonder if we could make a play for Jake Kelly from Adelaide. He's gone pretty well and they've nicknamed him Bull for his attack on the footy.

He has the size and shape to bolster our midfield.
