Hypocrites.

Aussies are no angels but opposition teams try to take the moral high ground and end up looking like bigger knobs.

Yes. Quite frankly, the level of discourse in the cricket world has seemed like a throwback to the discussions in the AFL two decades ago about calling players (for example) "black c***s". In the AFL nowadays, there is no confusion among players, coaches, or spectators about what has crossed the line.

Rabada has been charged with a Level 2 offence, which carries 3 pts at minimum and, coupled with his existing 5 pts, gives him a 2-Test suspension. Of course, the morally bankrupt powers that be are contesting the charge, claiming it was accidental. Accidents happen when you don't see a person and thus don't know exactly where he is, not when you're screaming into the person' face, i.e. looking right at him.

At last. Something's being done about the 'music', from sections of the crowd.

Not sure how or what. The suggestion from the comms is they've been asked to play, just between overs.

The umps have been halting play to discuss this issue.

In the meantime, Hazlewood gets Elgar to feather to Paine.

4/155.

Re. previous post, I well remember Steve Waugh nicking a ball through to the keeper in an Ashes Test at (I think) the MCG.

The Barmy Army was in full voice, drowning out the sound of the nick. We all heard it, on TV, but, because there was minimal deflection, the ump couldn't give it out - simply because he couldn't hear the sound.

Of course, Tugga just stood there. "Not out" was the ump's call to the unanimous and raucous appeal from the Poms.

Personally, from around that point, I vowed never to attend another Ashes Test as long as the Barmy Army attended.

The late Daily Mail sportswriter Ian Wooldridge once suggested that the Barmy Army should be gassed, while Christopher Martin-Jenkins adapted a famous Betjeman poem to read "Come friendly bombs and fall on them". He considered the BA was 'a blight on English Cricket'.

More on (moronic does come to mind :) ) the crowd 'noise' issue.

It's not so much the noise (although that's annoying) but the repetitive nature of the BA chants - esp. the "Bormy Ormy' chant. Just those 2 words , over & over. Plain boring. As is the nauseating 'singing' from the crowd in this match and all SA Home Tests. The same thing, again, non stop.

By the way, I don't mind crowd noise in the ODIs or T20s. But I'm something of a traditionalist when it comes to Test cricket.

Mitch Marsh traps Faf (9), in front.

Only 5 down but the Aussies have momentum, esp. with the ball reversing, as it is.

SA 64 behind. 5/179.
