Somewhat surprisingly, the game is not up just yet, though wickets are needed.
3/150 (38 ).

Is Dhoni's WC spot now safe?? They desperately need his wicket and another just to be a chance.

Speaking of keepers, I'd say Carey has not been convincing, but the selectors need to experiment with new guys now, because they can always get desperate and revert to old guys for the WC, but obviously the reverse is (even) more dangerous: they can't throw an untried guy into the WC squad.

How many games are left to experiment in before the WC? Can't be all that many...

I'm puzzled.

Dohni scored singles at will, to backward square. Why ? I'm aware only 2 fielders are allowed, behind square, but Finch didn't move his 2, at all.

Even more puzzled why Sids was in the XI. Finch had to use him in the death overs. India just milked him.

Why was he in the XI and not AJ Tye ??

84 n.o. for the Hurricanes, tonight.

Yes, I realise T20s aren't Tests but Wade is sitting on top of the Shield batting table, averaging 63.44 and is in hot form, in the BBL.

Deano writes:

"Wade cannot do much more than he is doing. He would be my keeper for the World Cup. Does he have any issues he needs to resolve with Tim Paine?"

I think if his 'issues' were with Paine, that would not be the biggest problem (and not an ODI problem -- the article was mainly about Tests). If his issues are with a host of selectors and teammates, that's a bigger hurdle.

Deano also writes about Handscomb:

"His defensive weaknesses are his front- and back-foot defence."

Given that there's really no other type of defence, I think that's saying he has no defensive technique at all!! (That's generically true of batsmen around the world, of course.)

Deano adds:

"And he needs to have the same attitude to Test cricket as he does for one-day internationals. In the ODI format, Handscomb really gets forward and looks to hurt bowlers down the ground."

Well at least they started to get scores close to 300 again, despite India's ability to chase down massive targets.
Would like to see Darcy Short back in the squad for World Cup, and perhaps Chris Lynn, be he really needs to deliver instead of being the big Bash Bully.

Finch must be shitting kittens now....
