The 49th over, bowled by Bumrah, was almost a waste of great bowling. Five swings and misses from the first five balls.

Carey batted brilliantly for his 55 from 35. Warner being a little too sedate getting to his 50 - and then not converting with a quick second 50 - was probably the difference. Australia should be pleased with that performance - they were ordinary for much of the game but were still in it until the 49th over. They would now expect to beat India when it matters.

Oz bowling stocks are very thin. NCN would not be in the team if a decent third seamer was available.
