Khawaja is doing more playing and missing than hitting boundaries.

He's just incapable of big hitting.

Cummins is scoring faster than him... and hits the last ball of the over for 4.

Oz 6/241 (49).

Last over. Boult to bowl.

First ball: Khawaja gets a single down the ground.
Second ball: Single. Cummins hits it to the fielder in the ring.

Third ball: Khawaja is bowled, walking across to try to hit legside! It just clipped the leg stump.

Oz 7/243 (49.3).
Khawaja 88. He & Carey stopped the Oz innings from collapsing, but he just cannot score quickly in the late overs.

Fourth ball: Starc is bowled! Boult is on a hat-trick.

Oz 8/243 (49.4).

The final over is the best time to try to get a hat-trick, because the batsmen still need to try to score.

Fifth ball: Appeal! Behrendorff is given out LBW! They review it... It looks out. It is out.

The first NZ WC hat-trick. He could get four wickets in four balls here.

Sixth ball: Dot ball. Lyon exposed his stumps and gave Boult a huge chance, but it missed.

Oz finish on 9/243 (50).

That should be competitive, but Oz will have wanted 250-60. Khawaja is such a limited ODI batsman... It could cost Oz the WC. Words fail me. After 120+ balls, you'd think a top-order batsman might be able to hit some balls off the middle of the bat, or even get thick edges. If Khawaja had holed out instead of Carey, and Carey had stayed till the 50th over, Oz might have got to 270.

Odds at change of innings: NZ 55%, Oz 45%.

In the other game, Pakistan are throwing away a possible SF spot.

Sarfaraz just ran himself out.
Pakistan 6/156 (39).

Previously, they were 4/121 (29.1).
Then 5/142 (35).

NZ hit three 4s in 8 balls.

NZ 0/26 (5.2).

----------------------------

In the 7th over, the broadcast predictor says Oz 24%, NZ 76%.

Odds: NZ 66%, Oz 34%.

The 8th over is bowled by Behrendorff. He's switched ends.

A big shout for LBW. Not out. They don't review.
Replays show it would have been umpire's call.

Good over.

---------------

And next over, Cummins bowls a maiden.

Only 2 runs from the last three overs, but NZ have not lost a wicket.

---------------

And next over a wicket. Nicholls gets a touch down legside and is caught behind. It was a bad ball from Behrendorff, but this has been a good batch of overs for Oz.

NZ 1/29 (9.2). Williamson in.

The broadcast predictor says Oz 35%, NZ 65%.

cricinfo forecasts NZ 68%.

Odds: NZ 55%, Oz 45%.

Lyon on to bowl the 13th over.
Good start.

----------------------------------

Next over, Behrendorff continues.
First ball, he gets Guptill LBW! A good ball this time, like the one that was not out and would have been umpire's call if they had reviewed. He's getting swing.

NZ 2/42 (13.1). Taylor comes in.

cricinfo's forecast drops from NZ 68% to 60%.

Oz are now favourites.
Odds: NZ 41%, Oz 59%.

Clarke: "Starc didn't get the ball to swing at all." Yet Behrendorff still is.

The broadcast predictor says Oz 47%, NZ 53%.

Dropped catch at slip! Williamson edges Lyon, it deflects off Carey's gloves and hits Smith in the chest. That could be a costly miss.

Finch looks frustrated.

Healy: "Very difficult for both men." I don't think Carey had time to react at all.

-------------------------

At 2/47 (16), drinks, cricinfo forecasts NZ 57%.

Next Lyon over, there's a leg slip as well as a first slip, but that's just for Taylor.

NZ are now batting even more slowly than Oz were at this stage.

In his 8th over, Behrendorff gets the edge, but it's just out of Carey's reach.

He's bowled well since switching to this end.

--------------------------------------------------

And now Smith comes on to replace Lyon. The second ball is a hit-me ball, but NZ only get a single. Clarke questions the removal of Lyon. Two balls later, another slow full toss, but again only a single. And a third, still only for a single!

The balls that landed on the pitch weren't bad.

--------------------------------------------------

Behrendorff continues for his 9th over. Will he be bowled out?

Baz: "I'd definitely bowl him out."

Appeal for LBW. Not out. No review.
It was pitching outside leg, replays show.

--------------------------------------------------

Now Finch replaces Smith! It's a race to the bottom!
Seriously, this is the kind of pitch for that.

But Taylor hits a rubbish ball for 4. Baz calls it "filth".

--------------------------------------------------

And Behrendorff is not bowled out. It's Stoinis.

--------------------------------------------------

And finally from the spinners' end, it's Maxwell. That's Lyon, Smith, Finch & Maxwell from this end.

The broadcast predictor says Oz 52%, NZ 48%.

Stoinis strays down leg and Williamson hits him for the first 6 of the whole match.

Next over, Williamson scores his 6000th ODI run.

Now he hits Maxwell for 4 down the ground.

NZ 2/92 (25).

The runs are beginning to flow, as Starc is brought back.

And Starc gets Williamson to edge to Carey! 40 (51).
That is a huge wicket. Williamson throws his head back.

A loss of concentration, the commentators say. There was a third or fourth slip, and if it had got past it would have been only a run.

NZ 3/97 (25.4). Latham comes in. Chance for another wicket.

cricinfo's forecast drops from NZ 74% to 63%.

Odds: NZ 32%, Oz 68%.

Cummins gets Taylor. It was a rainmaker. Carey was not comfortable under that but fell forward and hung on to the catch.

NZ 4/118 (31.4). CdG comes in.

Odds: NZ 21%, Oz 79%.

Smith gets CdG, who holed out first ball! Golden duck!

NZ 5/118 (32.1). They have lost two wickets in 4 balls. Neesham comes in.

The broadcast predictor says Oz 87%, NZ 13%.

Odds: NZ 11%, Oz 89%.

Smith is bowling offies to Neesham with a slip.

----------------------------------------------------

cricinfo's forecast drops to NZ 32%.

Clarke goes back to Taylor's dismissal, slogging Cummins. Pick the bowler to take on, he says. Not Cummins.

They say Khawaja is drinking pickle juice over the boundary, so he must be cramping. He has so many fingers taped up, it must have been hard to take that last catch.

Ian Smith says the NZ batting was "timid".

Smith takes a great leaping one-handed catch to get rid of Latham off Starc!

NZ 6/125 (35.3). Santner in.
NZ are collapsing now.

Healy says NZ's batting has been "foggy".

Lisa S. says that Smith went first with both hands before extending the right to reach the ball. "Perfect technique," she says.

---------------------------------------------------

The broadcast predictor says Oz 96%, NZ 4%.

Odds: NZ 4%, Oz 96%.

Lyon gets his first wicket, Neesham c&b.

NZ 7/131 (38.1). It's the tail now.

NZ need to bat out the overs. They don't want to destroy their NRR, which was what was making their SF place safe. Oz should bowl whoever needs more bowling practice...

... But Starc continues with his 8th over. Rest him, Finch!

The broadcast predictor says Oz 99%, NZ 1%.

And Starc gets an LBW decision! NZ review. Umpire's call! It remains out.

NZ 8/141 (40).
