Bumrah gets his second wicket.

SL 2/40 (7.1).

Odds: SL 14%, India 86%.
Line: 245.5.

------------------------------

A lot depends on Avishka Fernando's innings here. If he stays in, SL could get a large total.
He's off to a fast start.

Jadeja gets Mendis. SL are starting to crumble.

SL 3/53 (10.4).

Odds: SL 10%, India 90%.
Line: 225.5.
.....................................

If SL do crumble here, Oz, who start roughly when the SL innings ends, will know that they must beat SA to finish the preliminary rounds first and get that SF against NZ at the same place.

Full-on collapse now. Fernando out 6 balls after Mendis was out.

SL 4/55 (11.4).

Odds: SL 6%, India 94%.
Line: 197.5.
....................................

The need for Oz to beat SA grows with each over. Why is everyone assuming Oz is a certainty to win? Before the tournament started, surely no one thought SA were that bad?

The British commentators' favourite topic to discuss is the slow over rate. They whinge yet again. "Why do they need new gloves brought out?" "The day is so drawn out." "Nadal vs. Kyrgios."

The partnership between Mathews and Thirimanne is now 104. Both have 50s.

SL 4/159 (35).

Odds: SL 17%, India 83%.
Line: 258.5.

-----------------------------------------------

In the other game, S. Africa win toss, bat.

We'll see whether Maxwell is playing... but Amla is out , replaced by a wristspinner! Maxwell is in.

Five batsmen only for S. Africa. Well, no, four specialist batsmen, because they open with QdK. Given QdK's trouble with Boult (out five times out of eight to him), Behrendorff & Starc may be be after his wicket.

And two wristspinners. Would S. Africa have chosen such a side if it weren't a dead rubber for them?

Finally another wicket for India. Thirimanne out.

SL 5/179 (37.5).

.......................

But next over Mathews hits Jadeja for 6 and 4.

Odds unchanged.

........................

SL 5/200 (40). Very neat scoreline.
Mathews 85* (100).

First ball from Starc goes for 5 wides.

And another wide two balls later.

Maybe S. Africa ran out of batsmen to pick. Miller was already out injured earlier.

Markram hits a 4 past Maxwell at backward point.

Expensive first over.

And another 4 to end the over.

S. Africa 0/14 (1).

Odds: Oz 66%, SA 34%.
Line: 278.5.

Slater tells us this is the 100th ODI between Oz and S. Africa.
Oz lead 49-48, with 3 ties... and 1 no result...

Err, that doesn't add up, Michael.

-------------------------------------

QdK is beaten. Need to get him out while the ball is swinging. Bowling him through the gate would be nice.

Another wide from Starc. May be time to get Cummins on. Starc can come back after Behrendorff from the other end. Pollock thinks the other end is better for him.

Markram hits Behrendorff for two 4s in a row.
Behrendorff responds with a bounce.
Markram is using a noticeably open stance to the left-armers.

SA 0/34 (4).

This is a bad start for Oz.

S. Africa have hit four 4s in 8 balls.

---------------------------------------

So Finch turns to Lyon for the 6th over.

This pitch looks like it's giving the bowlers nothing.

---------------------------------------------------------

And Cummins from the other end. His first ball is driven straight for 4.

Slater: "Just quietly, how good's this pitch?"

They should stop calling flat tracks "good". They are bad for cricket.

And another 4.

The runs are coming in a flood.

Pollock notes that all the short balls have been uncomfortable for the batsmen. Maybe Oz should ball shorter, then.

Markram hits Lyon for 6.

Clarke thinks his field is wrong and he need's a long-on.

--------------------------------------------------------------

Meanwhile, in the other game, Bumrah has got the wicket of Mathews.

SL 6/253 (48.2).

Behrendorff is now coming from around the wicket.

15% of deliveries have been short. Pollock repeats his suggestion the shor ball may be the way to go.

Dropped. A caught and bowled chance goes down.

0/73 (10).

Nicholls: "The Powerplay's over. That will be a relief for the Australian captain."

In the other game, SL finish on 7/264 (50).

After 20 overs, cricinfo forecasted 230. After 28 overs, cricinfo forecasted 267.
That's close to where they ended up.

Odds at change of innings: SL 17%, India 83%.

An appeal for stumping. TV review... Out! Markram goes.
A much needed wicket for Oz.

S. Africa 1/79 (11.3). Faf in. Remember they have only 4+1 batsmen!

Before that wicket, the odds were 53-47 in favour of Oz.

Odds: Oz 59%, SA 41%.
Line: 298.5.

At 1/83 in the 13th over, the broadcast predictor says 335. At the start of the innings it was 319.

Next over, Lyon continues with a slip for QdK.

QdK almost plays on. Lyon is bowling well.

Clarke: "Once again, that lack of spin is helping Lyon."

Lyon is getting noticeable drift.
