Archer continues. Smith is on strike. He pulls for 4, but it's close to Stokes.
Next ball, Smith goes down like he's shot.
Archer walks back to his mark.
Physios come out.
Steve Waugh looks on, chewing gum.
There is a hush around the ground.
There is applause now.
Lloyd: "He's got to go off. The medics have just got to take it out of his hands."
Well, they should and they would if it were concussion, but it isn't.

Smith is retiring hurt. There is applause.
I said it isn't concussion, but it could be: replays show it hit him on the neck or face under the helmet. You hope there's not a broken jaw.
Remember there are concussion subs available.

I wouldn't want to be Archer in the next innings on this pitch. There's a fair chance Cummins will kill him.

Yes, well that was almost as pathetic as the watching Archer having a little quiet chuckle with a mate while Smith was prone.

Well, you are allowed to bowl fast and bowl bouncers, which was what Lloyd was talking about.
------------------------
Siddle & Cummins look comfortable here.

And still Archer continues. The new ball is due... Oh, they take it.
His line and length is ragged now. They are playing him comfortably.
They show replays of the last Smith delivery again... It looks to me like top of the jaw.
Meanwhile 4 byes. This is not a good over. One or two overs too many.

Well, what would he have to be "thrilled" about? Apart from being instructed to try to bowl short to try to hit Smith, what was Archer achieving? The 6th wicket fell at 162, so he hasn't actually got anyone out. The only reason he hit Smith is because the ball is going through at two heights when it's pitched short - Smith thought he was going under that one and ducked into it because it didn't get up.

Siddle swishes at a wide ball and misses, but they are still looking comfortable here against the new ball.

A sight to put terror into the hearts of the English - Smith is padded up, watching. He looks a bit determined. They could yet have peppered the path to a 300 deficit with their bouncers.

Woakes gets Siddle caught behind.
Oz 7/218.
Who's coming out??
It's Smith . There are cheers, applause, boos, everything...
Warne disapproves of the boos in this situation. Athers seems to agree.

Smith flogs the second ball for 4 to deep wide-ish long-on.
