Curran appeals for LBW against Paine. Not out.

It pitched outside leg.

Lloyd: "Don't get blocked off with your front foot going towards the off side."

Athers says, in contast, Smith gets his back foot across and waits with the front foot.

Nasser says they've had a split field for Smith. He says Ponting wants the ball outside off, with the fine leg then moved to deep point. If he wants a single tucked to leg, fine. Then you get the tail to bowl to.

Lloyd says it's common in league cricket not to have a fine leg.

Curran gets Paine caught behind.

Oz 6/166 (53.4).
Smith 66*.

That's a lot of 6s.

Taylor: "This is a very good batting pitch."

Curran should have been in the team earlier, at least instead of Overton last Test.

Curran gets Cummins LBW. He reviews.

Ultra Edge shows no bat.

Three reds. Out.

Curran is on a hat trick.

Oz 7/166 (53.5). Siddle in.

Siddle survives the hat-trick ball, thick edging for 4.

Smith hits Archer for 4 through point.

Athers says this is Ponting's point.

Smith defends and does a dance. Athers laughs.

Lloyd: "So they've got oundary riders at deep point and deep backward square."

Smith edges past slips for another 4.

Stifled appeal by Curran. Smith got an inside edge.

Curran is replicating Marsh's effort yesterday.

Maiden.

It feels like there have been a lot of maidens recently, though the previous over from Archer was expensive.

--------------------------------

Meanwhile, Lloyd repeats his running gag talking to people in the crowd, asking them,"Do you know how to get Steve Smith out?"

Another appeal for LBW. Not out. No review.

Ball tracking confirms it's doing too much and going down leg.

Another appeal. Not out again.

Another maiden.

Gower: "Now time for a little Leach."

He's bowling in sunglasses.

"Come on, Leachy," screeches someone.

Woakes gets Smith LBW. No review. 80.
He just missed a straight ball.

Oz 8/187 (61.1).

Huge trouble now. This Test is slipping away.

Ball tracking confirms three reds.

And Woakes hasn't even been bowling well. He's been bowling a lot of rubbish.

Botham: "I think Sam Curran's been fantastic."

Warne says it's not easy for the Oz fast bowlers, who may have to bowl again today.

The England lead is under 100. But Oz needed at least a 100 lead. Now they will most likely have a big deficit.

Now Lyon clubs Archer for 4 through the covers.

Warne: "This partnership now 33 from 33."

Leach drops Lyon in the deep!
That would have been Archer's 5th wicket.

Archer bowls Lyon with the knuckle ball.

Oz 9/224 (68.1). Hazlewood is last man in.

Taylor: "A handy 25."

Ponting: "It would have been the last ball he'd have been expecting."

Root drops Hazlewood. Ponting says it may have been off the grill. But Lloyd says it's been given as a run.

Ponting says it's straight off the grill.

Ultra Edge supports Ponting.

Burns catches Siddle.

Archer finishes with 6 wickets.

It's hard to appreciate anything in Archer's bowling, because this is a man who should have been bowling for West Indies. England, as they do way too often, in their desperation for success, damage the game itself. It's a disgrace.

Oz 225 (68.5) all out.

England lead by 69.

Oz will have a 20-minute burst to try to take a wicket or two to get themselves back in the game.

England 0/9 (4) at stumps.

In an eventful final over, Denly, who does not have a Test opener's technique, edged and Harris dropped the catch. Pathetic.

Then on the last ball of the day Hazlewood got Burns LBW -- but the decision was overturned on review.
