Aussies could well play off the USA in the final. It's amazing what a series Patty Mills has had. He'd surely be in the running for player of the tournament. By comparison the Greek Freak has been ordinary.

It's basketball, so I can only watch it briefly before I want to gouge my eyes out but I watched the last almost two minutes on Kayo this morning and it's fair to say that Mills killed the game off with a great 3 and a 2 (the Czechs were within 7 points until Mills ran down the shot clock twice and made both long shots).

And unbelievably, the French then go on to knock out the USA of medal contention.

If Aus beat Spain (The new fave), then we'll go into the Gold Medal game against the winner of Argentina Vs France.

If we lose to Spain, we'll go into the Bronze medal game against the loser of Argentina Vs France.

I cant believe the US team is out.

More pain against Spain: Boomers lose semi-final in double overtime

https://www.theage.com.au/sport/more-pa ... 52r7b.html

"Spain, who broke Australian hearts with a one-point win in the Rio Olympics bronze-medal play-off, will play Argentina Sunday night’s championship game. The Boomers will face an equally shattered France in the bronze medal game. ...

NBA championship centre Marc Gasol was immense for Spain, with 29 of his 33 points coming after half-time while Ricky Rubio (19 points, 12 assists) was great early and Sergio Llull stoic in the second overtime with two threes which effectively ended the game.
...

With just four seconds left in the fourth quarter, Mills earned two free throws with Australia trailing by a point. Mills made the first to tie the game but saw his second rim out, forcing overtime."
