Some interesting performances, so far, in the first round of Sheffield Shield.
Incumbent Test openers, Warner (123) and Harris (116) both hit centuries.
Maddinson sent a reminder to selectors, with 224, and Pukovski scored a patient 123. Finch hit a quick 57.
Labuschagne scored a gallant 69 in Q'land's 153, and dismissed Warner, lbw.
Pattinson took a wicket with his first ball.
Not so good: Smith 0, Khawaja 1, Burns 13, Renshaw 19, Bancroft 30, S Marsh 9, M Marsh 41, Starc 0/42.

It's a game. Enjoy it.

Was about to make a separate topic on Paine/Carey, re, the Test team
Carey had just creamed a run-a-ball century on the benign St. Kilda wicket and Paine was desperately trying to get Tas. to the lead, in Perth.
Carey out for 117.
I go to the WA/Tas. match and find Paine on 103* and the Tigers in the lead.
He was out for 121.

And Labu is presently 42* in another poor Queensland batting display (5/162).

So far, Warner, Harris and Labu have the front running for the top 3 spots.
The enigmatic Khawaja scored 1 & 24. Bancroft 30 & 0 and Burns, 13 & 52.
Starc's a bit of a worry. 0/42 & 0/69 from 33 overs.

Idiot.
"Marsh will miss four to six weeks after scans confirmed he broke his right hand when he punched a wall after getting dismissed against Tasmania on Sunday."
Who will now take the #6 spot ? With 3 quicks, Lyon and Labu, do we really need a 4th. fasty ?
Head back in at 5. Wade at 6, for mine.

'Marsh was wearing a glove when he punched the wall, and he knew straight away that he had suffered serious damage.
"It’s my middle finger, just below the wrist there - a fracture straight through the bone," said Marsh, who was sporting a big cast when he fronted media on Tuesday.'

Others have more "respectable" injuries:
Patterson re-injured his quad fielding; Finch was left out of the Vic. team after experiencing back spasms.

If Patto's injury keeps him out of the first Test, surely, Neser comes into calculations. Another 5fa, today.
Khawaja out for 2, today. Renshaw 18. Burns 39.
In the West, Harris scored 69.
