Pat Cummins
Ave. 5.00 SR. 94.59.

Well, better than Starc, but no risk of busting the Ponting Criterion.

Rolls Royce taken out of the shed tonight. Game over as Australia win by 9 wickets on the back of two unbeaten half centuries to Warner and Bradsmith in an unbroken 100 run partnership.

9 wicket win for the Aussies.

Bit of a ho hum, apart from an excellent knock from Smith - 53* from 36 balls - at a slightly better strike rate than Warner's 60*.
Donny.

It's a game. Enjoy it. :D

Sadly, this may not be good prep for the WC. Of course, people might say these games should be valuable in their own right, but sadly we know that's not true. It's like Ashes practice matches against D-grade county sides.

True, there's still a year to go, but how many T20s will Oz play in that time?

There are no excuses for not winning the WC, given the enormous home-ground advantage.

Glenn Maxwell is taking an indefinite break from cricket as he deals with a mental health issue.

D'Arcy Short replaces him in the Aussie T20 squad.

Very, very sorry to hear that. Win, lose or tie, he’s one of the players you turn on the game to watch. Best wishes for a full recovery to him.

Cricket Victoria restructured mental health model

https://www.theage.com.au/sport/cricket ... 536n4.html

"... performance psychologist Tony Glynn - who had been working four days a week on staff at CV - moved in July to a consultancy role with some senior and pathway players.

When Glynn - who has also worked with netball’s Melbourne Vixens and Tennis Australia - was working on staff at CV he was available for players to speak to about their issues when they wanted.

CV decided mid-year to change course. Under the new structure, players talk to CV doctor Trefor James as a first point of call when dealing with a mental health concern. Dr James then refers players as applicable to a broader network of mental health professionals, who in effect act as consultants. Glynn has continued to be involved with CV as one of these consultants.

The new structure allows players to talk with mental health professionals away from CV, keeping discussions at arm’s length from the organisation.
...

As a CA-contracted player, Maxwell has had access to Australian men's team psychologist Michael Lloyd."

Elsewhere...
England 3/154 (18.3) beat NZ 5/153 in Christchurch.

Vince 59 (38 ) was PotM.

Meanwhile...
the currently injured best Test batsman in the world has had his bowling action cleared again (without any change to it).
