"While the late strikes may have lifted morale in the Kiwis' dressing room, they have only highlighted how difficult it will be for their batsmen under lights.

If they are to save this game, they will likely have to bat through two evening sessions. Twelve of the 26 wickets to fall have come in the final period of the day.

The Kiwis showed that it's not just the new ball that is threatening at night. The ball was into its 43rd over when Australia lost four quick wickets in a dramatic finish to the day."

TP spared Hazlewood batting.

But Oz have fallen short of the plan to bat five sessions so NZ start under lights.

Handy 28-run "last"-wicket partnership between Starc and Lyon.

---------------------------------

Meanwhile, TV commentators discuss Oz's failure to the short ball. It's suggested NZ will continue with short-ball tactics, now that Oz batsmen have been exposed.

Ponting says this is a good match-up for Oz (Starc vs. Williamson).

We're told Starc has a good record against Kane.

But Starc starts with two gifts (if Healy were commentating, he would say "rubbish bowling") that are eased for boundaries.

Kane reaches double figures in three balls.

But Lyon comes on and first ball gets Kane, popping up to bat pad.

NZ in big trouble now.

We're told Lyon is on a hat-trick.

But Taylor survives.

Replays show a puff of dust from the footmarks from the dismissal ball.

Kane ? Being on first name terms with Williamson doesn't make his 48 runs for twice out, excusable. Fail.
