I see your point. But in the (I think) 9 out of his last 11 dismissals against England nicking off, almost all of them were caught behind. He couldn't even get thick edges!Donny wrote:Nicking in T20 is an asset. How often do you see even 1 slip ?K wrote:Will Khawaja nick off again with zero footwork and zero knee bend?
The Big Bash
"Melbourne Stars coach David Hussey was fined $2000 by Cricket Australia on Friday for a code of conduct breach that was deemed to have been contrary to the spirit of cricket.
Hussey joked in a television interview during the ninth over of Wednesday night's Big Bash League clash against the Adelaide Strikers that he had worn spiked footwear on the pitch before the match...
... Hussey had not worn spiked shoes and was found not guilty by independent code-of-conduct commissioner Adrian Anderson for attempting to gain an unfair advantage..."

CA encourage this slogathon circus to be all jokes and all dumbed down, with players miked up, etc., and then they turn around and dish out fines. I reckon miking up players is "contrary to the spirit of the game".

Smith has an appalling habit of getting huge scores when the game needs to be won and getting out cheaply when he isn’t needed. It’s probably just as well for the naysayer, since if he continued to pay attention when its entirely unnecessary, he would have an average in the low thousands.
Even cricinfo now refers to him as Australia’s greatest batsman since Bradman.

I can't think of any definitive innings Smith has played. Certainly not in ODIs. Can you remember a single innings of his in the 2015 ODI WC? He just drafted along with his many superior teammates (including Maxwell, who has sadly declined in that form of the game) to the title on home shore. Then in the 2019 ODI WC, he was mostly a liability, with him and Khawaja getting in each other's way, because they can only (at best) play in one way in one position. As I've said before, S. Waugh fell short of being a great batsman, but there are clear definitive great innings he played, both in Tests and ODIs. We all know the 99 ODI WC would not have been won by Oz without his century against S. Africa, for example, and that was in the period where he was no longer a good ODI batsman.Pies4shaw wrote:Smith has an appalling habit of getting huge scores when the game needs to be won and getting out cheaply when he isn’t needed. ...
