Final tonight. The Bureau's latest weather forecast for Sydney suggests that the Sixers are virtually certain to "win" the competition, given the absence of a washout alternative:

"Overcast. Very high (near 100%) chance of rain. Rain heavy at times, building from the afternoon. The chance of a thunderstorm." There are also suggestions that surf conditions are "expected to be hazardous for coastal activities such as rock fishing, swimming and surfing". The possible rainfall is estimated in the range 90 to 150 mm (call it 3 and half to 6 inches in the old money).

Oh well, another twist to the Bradsmith legend - he turns up to play in the BBL for the first time in years and casually carries his team to competition-dominance. K will be pleased.

Pattinson made a fool of him and dismissed him quickly. (Patto, maybe next time you should be kind and bowl only slower balls to him, because he cannot handle "short" balls that are waist height.)
Zampa made a fool of him and dismissed him slowly. (Maxwell, next time set a slip to the new batsman, especially when it's one who has thrown you under the bus! Zampa, if a batsman gives you a caught-and-bowled chance, you've got to take it!)

A shame Zampa won't get another go.
(And a shame he and Khawaja play for cross-town rivals, so we cannot see them run each other out.)

Yes, their bowling is suddenly very strong by BBL standards. Lyon is at best the third-best bowler. Moises struggles to justify bowling himself. That's how strong it is.

Their batting is weak, though.

It has Bradsmith. That's all any team needs.

Average of 50 at a strike rate of 150 in the BBL, this season. That's a Pontificate* of 200.

* a new, inexcusable name for Ricky's old, inexcusable "yardstick".

FTB. The Flat-Track Bully.

Are you sure about those numbers? What were his innings? Are you taking advantage of a not out or two among a measly four or so innings? That is also an S. Waugh specialty (or so Shane Warne will always tell us).

The innings I remember, when he was humiliated by Pattinson and Zampa, he made something like 9 and 23. (Funny, that, huh? When he comes up against Oz national representatives, he can't hack it. Lucky he never has to face Cummins or Starc or Hazlewood.)

And Ponting never faced McGrath or Warne.

And IVAR never faced Marshall, Roberts, Holding and Garner.

And ChappellG never faced Lillee, Thomson and Walker.

Well, when you can't even cope with Zampa... I know Zampa has taken Virat's wicket a few times, but really...

I don't know what this is like for Viv... Being utterly humiliated by Carl Hooper's bowling? Maybe someone better than Carl. Roger Harper?

Almost as bad as NZ just losing 6/22 against India. From cruising at 3/119, needing about 6.6 per over, they were suddenly 9/141. They ended up losing by 8 runs. All this despite Dube bowling what may have been the only over he gets in a T20 international, in which he was carted for 34.
They're doing it again in NZ, albeit it in the ODI format - NZ has gone from 1/142 in 26.3 overs - and looking set for 320 to 330 - to 7/187 in 37.4 overs.

Heaps of rain has fallen on the SCG, over the last 24 hours.

3 scenarios: 1. Complete washout - Sixers win.

2. Possible start but could be reduced overs. Perhaps 10 overs a side. Or even 5.

3. Possible start. Could be decided by D/L, with second team batting, favoured.

2 & 3 coming in to play.

The big rain system has moved West and it's relatively clear, behind it. How wet the outfield is, could well decide the issue.
