"Alex de Minaur has come from behind to claim his fifth ATP Tour singles title with a gutsy 4-6 6-4 7-6 (5) victory over Lorenzo Sonego in the Eastbourne International final on Sunday morning (AEST).

The win over the in-form Italian world No.27 will see the Australian rise to a career-high 15th in the ATP Rankings.

It is the 23-year-old’s his fifth career title and first on grass to complete the perfect preparation for his Wimbledon campaign starting on Monday night AEST.

De Minaur, who enters the men’s singles as the 15th seed, will meet American rising star Sebastian Korda in a tricky opening-round encounter."

Serena is out.

A slippery Centre Court surface has curtailed a "heartbroken" Serena Williams' latest title challenge at Wimbledon, forced to retire from the tournament in the first round.

Seven-times singles winner Williams slipped during the fifth game against Aliaksandra Sasnovich and needed a medical timeout.

Even though the American returned after a 10-minute delay and hit a handful of winners, the pain in her right leg appeared too severe and she had to quit in tears.
