Best part about this is he’s exposed those in charge for the hypocrites they are.

Insecure people who have followed the rules for the last two years will misdirect their vitriol against him as a coping mechanism, rather than against those who have disrupted their lives for two years.
Really? Waking up this morning to see that it looks like he will be sent back home which is great news. It should have not got this far at has been poorly done on all levels but the right outcome has happened and he won't play.
Cheers big ears

Did say that would have been the stumbling block immigration border force at the airport.

i could pick it a mile.

Knew that would hold Novak up.

Would have been interesting been there as a fellow traveller witnessing what was going on.

But this sort of thing happens heaps at the airport just have the wrong docs, forms arent filled out properly, or simply dont have the paper work.

Simply put on the next plane back to their home country.

Happens daily.

I used to work at the airport too.

It's a shame, but not surprising.

Djokovic is just a political tool for our politicians to show how tough they are.

GO RAFA! :P

Entering another country is always a risk. Even without COVID.

That's why there are even sketchy TV shows about it. (Critics claim these shows are racist. They may be right about that.)

Suddenly tennis pros are discovering what normal follks have to face.

Border control contacted Tennis Australia twice in writing before all this. Not very professional by TA in this case.

D. Kane:

No love for Novak, but blame for sorry saga lies with the system

https://www.smh.com.au/sport/tennis/no- ... 59md2.html

"Let me put squarely on the record: I don’t like the cut of Djokovic’s jib. He lost me more than a decade ago when he was just another nuffy tennis player replete with potential, and when his party trick was to perform childish impersonations of the idiosyncrasies of other players, male and female.
...

I adore athletes with an (un)healthy dose of quirk; I don’t like Djokovic. I never have. Perhaps it’s because his astonishing abilities with a racquet are diametrically opposed to his ability to take the temperature of a room.
...

Obviously though, nobody - not even Djokovic’s own travelling circus tent - thought there was a distinction between a medical permission to play in a tournament, and free passage to enter the country in which the tournament is being held.

The Australian guidelines on vaccination provide only a few skinny avenues to proceed down for exemptions.
...

Whether the Australian Border Force decision to stop Djokovic’s entry can withstand a legal challenge is complex.

But it’s a determination that will be made dispassionately based on law and evidence...

Whether these vaccine and entry rules are actually and properly proportionate in all the circumstances is a separate question, but an entirely vital one. This is especially so where Australia’s health threats, which we do not do nearly enough to combat, are threats of a magnitude higher than the coronavirus."

sb odds

Medvedev 2.30
Djokovic "(doubtful)" 2.40*
Zverev 3.40
Nadal 10.00
Tsitsipas 17.00
Sinner 18.00

* Yep, that's what it says... "Novak Djokovic (doubtful) 2.40"...
S'pose sb has to write that to avoid complaints if he doesn't play?? Err... No. "Bets will be void if player does not participate."

And for the women...

Barty 4.00
Osaka 6.50
Muguruza, Swiatek 13.00
Kontaveit 14.00
Sabalenka, Badosa, Halep 15.00

I see Halep's an outsider... Saw her smash her racquet and get a code violation last night... So I guess she's not playing well.
