Pat Cummins was sold for A$1.34m to Kolkata Knight Riders as the first Australian to go under the hammer at this year's India Premier League mega-auction, but the price represents a substantial pay cut from the figure he earned last year.
David Warner was the other Australian sold in the early bidding, with the 35-year-old opener who was player of the tournament at November's T20 World Cup sold for A$1.16m to the Ricky Ponting coached Delhi Daredevils.
That represented a significant bargain on the pre-auction predictions, with Warner expected to be among the most highly sought-after names.
Mitchell Marsh will join Warner at the Ponting-coached Delhi franchise after he was purchased for A$1.2m after a bidding war against his previous franchise, Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Star allrounders Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis have already been signed on big-money deals prior to the auction.
