That was a great innings! I watched him through the 90's and then when he opened up when Mehidy was dismissed.
Another 50 runs would have been nice.... the silly run out of Ali was costly.

Tigers are still in this, just. Need some quick wickets and to bowl them out for around 200.

^ I doubt they'll reach 70. They lost the 3 wickets to a dual spin attack of limited threat (because the light was so poor, SA didn't want to use its seamers). I suppose the wicket might play a bit better in the first session, if there has been a little bit of moisture in the air overnight but I'd be genuinely startled if they got halfway to the target.

Hmmm. 9/51. I didn't want that prediction to be correct but it's all happening this morning.

All out for 53. Maharaj with 7/32. The final dismissal was reviewed. It looked plumb lbw - but, in fact, there was an inside edge, so it was caught at slip, instead.

You'd think these results would quickly become a distant memory. Bangladesh has a population of more than 165 million people and cricket is, as with India, the main sport (I'm sure everyone will know this but, prior to Partition in 1947, Bangladesh was East Bengal and administered as part of India).

Meanwhile, Maharaj is MOTM.

Wowee... Maharaj 7 wickets! Wonder how that ranks in his best performances.

Of course FTB Smith is his bunny... (FTB can't handle the ball that spins away.) But Maharaj fans will be happy to see him get some other wickets.

Starting shortly.

I've had a small wager on the Tigers @ $8.50.... why? Because my punting kitty is bulging and I want the Saffas to lose

Pitch report from Shaun Pollock: "The surface looks like it'll crumble as the Test progresses, there is some grass, but it's very tufty. The ball will get scuffed up and reverse swing will be a factor. As a batter, you will need to use your feet well, else you can get trapped in the crease, as the bounce will be lower than that at Kingsmead and it'll skid along."

Allan Donald | Bangladesh bowling coach "We stuck together quite nicely in the ODIs. Can't take a backward step here in South Africa, have that aggressive mindset, be it the white-ball or the red-ball, we lost a couple of pacers unfortunately, Taskin and Shoriful, who have gone home. I thought apart from the first session of Day 1, we pulled it back well, even in the second innings, we kept it very basic. This is the oldest ground in South Africa, and I spoke with the guys about the low bounce and the conditions. There might be a bit more spin involved in this Test."
