Australia win, just. India fell short. 8/167. Ash Gardner was POTM for her 31 from 19 and 2/37 (including bowling the final over).

For much of their innings, India looked like they would reach the target comfortably but they just wilted at the end under the pressure. They were 4/132 halfway through the 15th over but managed just 4/35 in the last 5 and half overs. India was 4/124 after 14 overs, compared with Australia's 2/99 at the same point in their innings. Even after 18 overs, the comparison was India 6/153 to Australia's 3/142. Brown's 1/1 in India's 16th over, Jonassen's effort in the 19th over (1/4) and Lanning's batting in Australia's 20th (18 runs, of which she scored 16) proved the difference, really.

Wowee...

Just saw vid of Harmanpreet Kaur's run out for 52 (34). Her bat got stuck in the pitch. Made all the difference!!

India were 4/133 (14.4) when Harmanpreet was run out. Woulda been 4/134 without the stuck bat. So woulda needed 39 runs from 32 balls with 6 wickets in hand.

But still some unhinged folks say there's no luck in sport.

Her bat got stuck in the pitch because she didn't stretch it out in front of her in the sensible way. Of course, she was coming back into the team following an injury, so she may have a credible explanation. That said, the way she put her bat straight down was direct from grade 2 at primary school.

And it diod. LIke India in the other semi-final, England seemed to be cruising to victory (0/53 from 5 overs) but then they lost 2 wickets in 2 balls, seemed to right the ship but fell away to finish with 8/158 - South Africa by 6.

Indeed, England were 4/137 after 17 overs, They needed 28 from 18 balls but managed just 4/21 in those last 3 overs. 3 wickets for 3 runs in the 18th over dug a very big hole.

So, it will be the home team to take on Australia in the Final.
