Oz young gun hits World Record.

Post by Donny »

21 y.o. Jake Fraser-McGurk just smashed a WR century in One Dayers from 29 balls. He finished on 125 from 38 balls, including 13 sixes.

Playing for the Redbacks in a Domestic One Dayer, against Tasmania, he also hit Sam Rainbird for 32 in 1 over. Think also a WR. Checking.

His 29 ball ton relegated Chris Gayle's 30 ball effort to second fastest.

A 21 y.o. beats a Chris Gayle World record, for fastest List A century, but can't attract any comment ??

I watched video of every ball. (Will prolly post a link somewhere sometime.) There was literally no foot movement before he reached 50. (Of course, that didn't take many balls!) Just stand and deliver stuff. After that, there was only slogathon footwork. (Either move outside leg to free the arms or move outside off to target the legside.)

It's a pretty ground, wherever it is. (Pretty surroundings.) Small, of course. Small boundaries. Hey, what's new?

Wonder whether this kid will ever be able to play serious cricket. But maybe he won't need to?

A lotta media stuff on him following the innings. Sounds like:
* Vic wanted to "help" him bat more "properly"
* SA are happy for him to slog
* Vic offered him a rookie contract (whatever that means)
* SA offered a "more lucrative" 2-year deal.

Out for 25 from 18. He plainly is batting for a spot in Australia's T20 team. Threw the bat at absolutely everything, then.

Racked up his first first class century (104 balls), today, in the Shield match against Victoria.

Like Harper, yesterday, he came to the crease with his team in heaps of trouble, at 4/16 and then 5/60. He added 123 with Liam Scott (50) for the 6th. wicket.

He's at it again for the Renegades. 29* from 12, batting first drop. The other 2 (de Kock was out for a duck) have managed 6 runs from 18 balls between them.

Meanwhile, Jake's just hit another 6, 8 rowsinto the stands. And then another after that. He's 41 from 14, with 6 sixes.

"World Cup-winning master blaster Glenn Maxwell has marvelled at Jake Fraser-McGurk, but the young gun's scintillating half-century wasn't enough to lift the Melbourne Renegades to their first win of the KFC BBL season.

Fraser-McGurk had fans ducking for cover at Marvel Stadium on Thursday night as he whacked the visiting Brisbane Heat attack for seven sixes.

The 21-year-old notched his first half-century in the competition from just 21 balls and finished with 55 from 23, laying the groundwork for the Renegades to post 8-162."
