Alex Condon 'potential' Cat.B rookie from August 2024
Moderator: bbmods
just looking at the draft NBA draft projections, and Alex is not on there (of course). The first three guys are French (no 1 is playing with Perth Wildcats at the moment). There are literally 100s of really tall guys playing basketball all around the worldatm, so i don't think he has much chance getting to the NBA.
His choice will be between AFL or playing lower tier basketball around the world. They don't necessarily cancel each other out. If he doesn't make it in AFL, he can go back to basketball

Alex Condon
Good to see Collingwood maintaining good connections with Alex Condon.
He was a guest at Collingwood this week. Apparently, he can sign with us as a Category B Rookie in August, and still return to the US to continue his attempt at an NBL career. Presumably, depending on how things turn out, he could play for us some time in 2025. At 212 cms, with elite athleticism, with successful u18 footy experience behind him, he could be an outstanding addition to our squad. There's still a lot of 'ifs' and 'buts' involved, but the fact he was at our training headquarters this week, gives me hope that the wheels are being put in motion to welcome him on board sooner rather than later.

This is very promising news. Collingwood are proving that with good administrative planning they can continue to develop our playing list talent dispite the restrictions imposed by the draft. Securing Alex Condon, and recent additions Will Parker, adds the talent pool required to keep the Magpies in contention for a few more years. Throw in a couple of free agents such as Bailey Smith and Hugh McCluggage and our premiership window will weird open for the next 4 years.
Collingwood Domination. Envy of the Nation!
Appeared in all 36 games and earned SEC All-Freshman honors, totaling 277 points, 229 and a team-leading 45 blocked shots during his freshman campaign.
Posted a season-best 17 points against Florida A&M.
Became the first Gator in program history to make his first career start in the NCAA Tournament.
Multi-sport star who also excelled in Australian football and competed in water polo, but opted for the hardcourt.

Best wishes to Alex Condon either way well done for having a go to chase your dreams.
Just one for the left field radar. We should hook him and his new gators team mate Olivier Rioux who’s a 236cm 18 year old Canadian giant. Condon will be playing at his heels!

^Geebus H Christ, 7 foot 9?
A standard ceiling height is 2400mm, only 4cm higher than him. He'd be dodging all the light fittings in a normal house and doorways would be at shoulder height.
Certainly be worthwhile contacting his agent.

Condon, earned Southeastern Conference All-Freshman honors at Florida during the 2023-24 season, averaging 7.7 points and 6.4 rebounds and leading UF with 45 blocked shots.
Condon participated in the Olympic lead up tournament Nippon Life Cup, an international basketball tournament featuring an Australia Select team competing against Japan.

He was subbed on in Game 1 and was a starter Game 2.
Condon was eligible for the draft in 2022 but chose later in 2021 to stop playing footy so he could focus on basketball. He decided that the Magpies will be his first choice under the rookie rules should his pursuit of an NBA career end.
The decision would allow him to be listed by the Magpies once his three-year stint not playing football at any level has passed, as per category B rookie rules. That three-year time will have been reached in August-2024.

Was due to be signed to rookie B contract this month. Guess that's fallen over?
