Re: Bytel, Eyre and Kreuger delisted
This AFL article outlines the 8 Collingwood players who've departed this year (so far). It's a lot (1/3 of a team by numbers). Next year will feel quite different and I expect, will be quite exciting with the new talented players in our squad.
Nathan Murphy
Josh Carmichael
Aiden Begg
Joe Richards
John Noble
Nathan Kreuger
Jack Bytel
Josh Eyre

surprised by Nathan Kreuger - cause i think he is pretty good and versatile. We keep him on for three injured years, and when he comes good, he is gone
Eyre - his "bio" reads well, but the bombers dumped him as well, so have to defer to those in the know

Re: Bytel, Eyre and Kreuger delisted
Given our shortage of KP stocks, I'm a bit surprised Kreuger wasn't kept on for another year, even if only as a depth/reserve player. I'm glad Sullivan got a 12 month contract. He's a tad slow, but has good skills and is a goer.
Long, McInnes and Macrae are lucky to hold on....for now at least.
Ash Johnson is only retained because he is already contracted for next year. So far, he has been the most disappointing of them all, because he is the most naturally talented. He needs to take some angry pills.

Re: Bytel, Eyre and Kreuger delisted
Bytel clearly filled an immediate need, but Josh Eyre is a particular surprise so soon. His "injury proness" was maybe a factor, or perhaps he just an immediate need as well.

Collingwood 3rd tall 2024 Averages
Kreuger 6 games. 7 goals.
Disposals: 7.7, Goals: 1.2, Marks: 3.5, Tackles: 2.3
McInnes 9 games. 13 goals.
Disposals: 5.9, Goals: 1.4, Marks: 1.8, Tackles: 1.2
(3 of his goals were against an abysmal WC at Marvel)
Johnson 3 games. 0 goals.
Disposals: 3, Goals: 0, Marks: 1.7, Tacklse: 1.7
Seems a bit stiff for Kreugs.
As others have said, Johnson only survived because he's contracted.

Don't be surprised if Brions offer him a lifeline...#danihersboots
Re: Bytel, Eyre and Kreuger delisted
Kreuger's inability to stand still away from the play on a footy field for more than 5 minutes without sustaining a 6-week injury ultimately told against him. His Collingwood career was like the Monty Python "Salad Days" sketch, with him playing all roles.

I'm really surprised about Eyre, we picked up up knowing he needed hamstring surgery, supported him through that and had less than half a season in the VFL to try to get form.
We obviously thought he had potential, to then delist him so quickly doesn't make sense to me unless his body is just not going to hold together.

Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down.

Re: Bytel, Eyre and Kreuger delisted
That was it for his time at the Pies and he had his opportunities. Kicking 3 goals against the Dees that day wasn't a feat of epic proportions.
Chuffed to have seen 3 flag wins in my lifetime but still greedy for more.
Re: Bytel, Eyre and Kreuger delisted
So, how many available spots on our list now?

Re: Bytel, Eyre and Kreuger delisted
I’m hearing a max of 5 spots available after todays delistings.
The 3 draft picks and likely two D F A s. Happy to be corrected if others know better.

Re: Bytel, Eyre and Kreuger delisted
Yeah this could happen for him. They could be looking for a quick fix for a year or two and Nathan is young enough and shown glimpses of being a good player that could be worth taking a shot at. Is there a better option for them right now?
