My first recollection was listening to the the 1970 GF on the radio, at 12 year old. My family still reminds me of my tears in the second half. I started my Collingwood life in the late 1960s.

My first actual attendance was the 1977 qualifying final against Hawthorn. I will forever remember the crowd roar when Collingwood came out on the ground. It was the loudest thing I'd ever heard to that point.

First final on tv was the 1979 Grand Final. My most shattering sporting event. I didn't speak to my family for a week (they are Carlton).

First time I attended a live final would have been the 1988 qualifying final against Carlton which we lost.

I attended the 1988 semi final against Melbourne which is probably the worst umpiring display I have seen in my life.

Since then I have attended all of the Grand Finals we have played in, and seen three premierships live.

1970 GF. I was 11. After half time, the Pies were not themselves. Years later I read that their lead was so massive, (40 points?) they could not lose and some players drank champagne courtesy of club officials at half time. After all those years I finally had an explanation of, why, when centre half back Terry Waters flew for a mark, he missed it by a good six inches. I cried on the train on the way back to Victoria Park. A year ago, not long after the grand final I saw my brother for the last time. He knew he was going, and deep down so did I. We were going to watch a replay together but it didn’t happen. Jordan De Goey was probably his favourite player since John Greening. Than is why I am now going to watch the replay of the 2023 GF and enjoy. Love all you Pies fans xxxx

Much better the following week where they did a number on Carlton with Carman unleashed in the second half creating mayhem.
Has there been a more electrifying player?
I remember mum taking me to that same 1978QF at MCG; I was eight at the time and still had no interest whatsover in football, and actually felt quite bored being there. It was noisy and I just couldn't relate to what was happening around me.
Tragedy is, Carmen kicked 3 goals for Pies that day, and I wasn't the slightest bit interested

However by the 1979 nightGF, I was converted, and addicted. Big mistake. Huge.
Next game we got to was the 1979PF vs North; as we commenced the drive the waverly, we got a few blocks before somebody asked: Hey, who's got the tickets....? And back we went to get them; could have been worse!

I was only 8 yrs at the time, but I can remember being with my mum and extended family (all from Collingwood) at the 1965 Preliminary final against Essendon. I can distinctly remember my mum saying early in the game "if that bludger doesn't stop hassling Duncan Wright, he'll flatten him". Next I recall a gasp from the crowd and seeing Wright standing still looking up the ground alongside the unconscious Peter Somerville.

My first was 1977 final vs Hawthorn, where Fabulous Phil was reported and subsequently suspended. Had beautiful seats front row, upper level on the wing in the old Southern stand courtesy of the school mate I was with. The school mate happened to be the opposition coach's youngest son.

Had similar seats for the '77 replay.

Live, last years Grand Final. I was so very lucky to be invited into a corporate box by a vendor. We were next to the rat pack less Swanny. On the siren Dale Thomas came into our room and we jumped all over him. I’m married with two kids, it is on the podium. You can guess which one got knocked off…

Same! Black and white TV and you could still tell the difference between the Pies and North.

First final live, was 2002 Prelim against the Crows. "Rocccaaaaaa!" does his thing, I jumped up and knocked the bloke beside me's beer onto his leg, he was a 120 kg 6ft 2 Islander and I looked at him apologetically in horror. He goes "It's ok Bro, just lucky it didn't get on that woman in front of us, she's already dobbed me in to security."
Get back on top.

My first memory of listening to a Collingwood final was the tragic 1970 GF shemozzle, but I'm pretty sure my first final live was the Qrt Final vs St.Kilda in 1971 which we lost to a tough team that included the imposing Carl Dieterich. Next finals series I saw live was the 1977 series which was also a shemozzle caused by Fabulous Phil Carman's brain fade to hit Michael Tuck for no good reason and single handingly loose the premiership for Collingwood that year.
Collingwood Domination. Envy of the Nation!
