I thought I would start this thread for anyone who is interested to discuss the AFLW in general, not just the Pies.
To start, here are some articles on the game discussing fixturing, season timing etc :

Calling out the lack of vision for the AFLW:
https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/womens ... 5ae3ca937a
Fox Footy broadcaster Kelli Underwood was left somewhat frustrated by the responses and lack of direction from the AFL.
“It (the interview responses) just felt like it was a lot of gobbledygook and ‘we’re still in a holding pattern and we still don’t know where we stand and we don’t know what it’s going to look like next year, let alone in 10 years’ time. It felt like you were listening to a half-time spray from a coach when there’s lots of words and lots of shouting, but they’re not actually saying anything,” Underwood told Fox Footy’s AFLW on Fox.

So why've the WPies been so hopeless in their whole history?
Makes me worried it's something to do with an unprofessionally run club.

Re: AFLW - General Discussion
The big questions facing the AFLW fixture for 2025
"SUMMER, winter or spring – the question remains. When should the AFLW season be played?
It's understood a number of clubs have been asked by the League for their preliminary thoughts around a season beginning in round 21 or 22 of the men's season – this year, round 21 ran on the first weekend of August.
With a guaranteed minimum of 12 matches per team next season, AFL CEO Andrew Dillon has already acknowledged the current 10-week period – which this year has seen 11 rounds squashed into it – won't be workable.
It's arguably the most important decision new AFLW boss Emma Moore will make in the first year of her tenure.
While players, coaches and club footy bosses have a variety of views, one thing is for sure – certainty and long-term planning is needed."

Re: AFLW - General Discussion
They expanded the competition too quickly, instead of letting it settle first.
All it's done is diluted the talent pool of the competition and foundation clubs have had their lists raided by the newer clubs.

Re: AFLW - General Discussion
Spot on there Jezza. As much as people don't want to admit it, but 50% of the AFLW players shouldn't be playing in a professional league. They simply aren't up to standard and never will be. The league should have remained at a maximum of 10 teams with a focus on building a VFLW system.
AFLW, as a product, is uninspiring driven by the AFL's greed to grow at any expense.

Re: AFLW - General Discussion
It's terrible viewing and getting worse. It was a novelty when it first started and now it's just ridiculous. I feel it will get better in years to come. For now, top Division Local Womens Football is way better viewing.
