I can confirm he has signed to play EFNL Premier Division in 2025 with Vermont, his junior club.Culprit wrote: ↑Fri Oct 18, 2024 7:58 pmHe's heading to Vermont, he will kill it but that is his standard. The Black and White Lion wrote: ↑Fri Oct 18, 2024 5:47 pm Did the Dees of Dons ever play him as a Key Back. That’s his only shot at VFL now surely

So we gave Markov a one-year contract extention what only seems like months ago, only to delist him? WTAF?
So what happens if somebody else claims him in RD?
Are we left paying out his contract for another team? Yeah that would be a first for this club....
Ash Johnson also a year to run until end of 2025; again what happens if somebody else claims him in RD?

Seriously.

^^I am surprised they promised to pick them up as Rookies. Markov will struggle to make it into the Senior team, but he has a better chance to get into the squad than Ash. There is a reason they are moving them to the Rookie list and someone will tell us.

She Nanny Gans. Hopefully this isn't a rookie mistake from Leppawitz.

Are the delistings/rookies to do with rookies not being able to play unless there’s a LTI? Or has that rule gone? If it’s still true then we’d want our least likely to play players on the rookie list. That means Ash is seen as absolute last resort and Markov just above him. Suggests Harry, TJ, Parker and Ryan are considered more likely to play at half back if needed.
I wonder what sort of commitment has been made? If there’s a better rookie available on the night we’d be mad not to take them.
Adds a bit of drama to what was looking like a Collingwood no-show in the rookie draft.

Re: Trade Targets ~ Free Agency & MSD player discussion
would be pretty vile for the Pies to turn around now but yeah I agree, what commitment would they make and how far would it go. wouldn't do much for the Pies brand in front Player Managers and prospective players if we backflipped now for someone untried, it would have to be a mature player who'd been walked to the draft and don't think that's happening this draft. I'd be surprised if another team tried to draft Leggy or AJ before us but you never know. I think this will tell us something about AJ's intent, wouldn't surprise me if he retired altogether. If he does get redrafted as a rookie, he will be better suited in the forward line with Checkers, McStay and possibly Membrey taking other key defenders. That might be the release he needs to play freely and instinctively again like in 22/23.
Ed Allen kicked our last goal of the year at the 58minute mark of the last quarter

Just to clarify, there’s more flexibility than ever with selecting rookies to play seniors. Basically there are no rules in terms of a rookie playing seniors at any time or not.
In the old days, you used to have to be elevated onto the senior list first, in order to play. That no longer applies, if your forms good enough, you get a call up. It’s now pretty much an extension of your primary list but the msin difference with rookies is that the first $80,000 of any rookies wage isn’t included in the T P P.
The only concerns Markov or Johnson could have regarding being selected in a rookie draft, would be if they didn’t meet rookie player criteria ( age, draft history etc ) You can guarantee they qualify as rookie nominations or the club wouldn’t put them in that position in the first place.
Markov or Johnson can’t go anywhere because they are both contracted players. The only difference with Markovs new contract is that it would have been agreed to in the knowledge that he would return to the club as a rookie. Johnson remains under contract and was never going anywhere UNLESS both parties agreed to a mutual parting of the ways.

See above but one of the main reasons ( as with all clubs ) is that as a rookie selection, the first $80,000 of your contract isn’t taken as part of the T P P.
They obviously both have a profile that still qualifies them as rookie nominations, so given the $80,000 discount, it makes perfect sense.
