a) we're all experts in hindsight - you never hear of the instances where the club take a calculated risk and the player gets through unscathed
b) we're all experts on the outside
c) of all the players in the team, Pendles gets to make his own fitness assessments
If we were 10-2 we are a little better placed to rest players 'out of an abundance of caution'.

Re: #10 Scott Pendlebury
^ Magnificent news - the opening goal against Richmond demonstrated - yet again - just how hard he works. He intercepted the handball in the centre, followed it up again at half-forward, moved it on and then ran on to take the mark and nail the goal. Probably the greatest footballer any of us will ever see. I understand that people are concerned about "developing" the younger players but you simply will never see Pendles' like again.
By the way, he and Steele are now equal-third all-time for most games as teammates. They have played 301 games togather. Only Selwood and Hawkins - 305 - and McLeod and Edwards - 307 - have done so more times.

Re: #10 Scott Pendlebury
Fabulous news. Great to see him play on for another season.
He's one of those very rare players that's entitled to go out on his own terms when he feels the time is right.

Bump for Scott’s 400.
There’s some classic early takes on the draft not only on Pendles.
Lazza won the internet though.

Re: #10 Scott Pendlebury
Just the 2 Brownlow votes this year . He's still 5th all-time, and 4 votes from Mitchell in 4th. He's 23 behind Dempsey which looks out of reach now. He should remain in the top 5 for a little while, but after last night, Cripps could be the one to catch him. Martin and Fyfe are too far behind, with Bont and Neale a chance to catch up if they have a good count over the next 2 years.
The two games he polled in were Anzac Day and the WCE thrashing. He has increased his lead for most votes on Anzac Day to 15, which is now 3 in front of Hird. Sidey is on 11, so we can hope he polls in that game next year to be second.

Re: #10 Scott Pendlebury
Scotty was "only" 6th in the Copeland in 2024.
So, starting from his second season, he now has 18 consecutive top-10 finishes in the best and fairest or, if you prefer, 18 consecutive seasons in which he has been no lower than 6th in the Copeland.
Along the way, he became the only player in Collingwood history to win 4 Copelands in a row - 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016. Before that, Bob Rose - 1951, 1952, 1953 - and Nathan Buckley - 1998, 1999, 2000 - held the record for consecutive Copeland wins with 3 each.
In fact, in those 18 seasons, he has finished:
- first 5 times;
- second 6 times;
- third 3 times;
- fifth once; and
- sixth 3 times.
That ridicullously fine record is likely never going to be repeated at Collingwood.

^^^^
I wouldn’t bet on that! We have a young star who is just 21, who logically barring a very serious injury can play for another 12 - 15 years. Naicos will give Pendles record a big shake.

I term the current Collingwood attack based strategy “Unceasing Waves” like on a stormy and windy day with rough seas. A Perfect Storm

I just want Pendles to pass Boomer and then reach 450. This means he'll need to play into 2026.

Pendles' Copeland Trophy record:
2006 = ?
2007 = 2nd
2008 = 3rd
2009 = 6th
2010 = 2nd
2011 = 1st

2020 = 2nd
2021 = 3rd
2022 = 2nd
2023 = 5th
2024 = 6th
Just a ridiculous level of consistency from the GOAT.

Re: #10 Scott Pendlebury
I was looking at other things and noticed that SP10 holds the all-time record for the most matches in which a player laid 5 or more tackles. Scott has done so 200 times. He is the only player to reach that mark.
