Yeah spot on.

If you want a camera just for fun, then anything in the lower budget will do fine.

If you want something that leads you into photography itself, then with 5mpg or more and the highest optical zoom in the budget.
Thanks guys!
I think I'm getting a little olympus one (can't remember the model). Only 3x optical zoom, I wanted 5x but the ones I was looking at with 5x either didn't have the other stuff that I wanted or it was too expensive. I think it has 8 (or more, forgotten) megapixles.....
But it's one of those really thin ones with a big screen. It's not meant to be one for photography, just a general camera for taking.... pics lol. But hopefully it'll take better ones than the camera I already have.... :P :D

Woohoo, welcome to photography, I know you wont go back, it's addictive.

In my Teds Camera junk mail, the Sony A200 going for $800 with 18-70mm lense and the option of a zoom 75-300mm for $200.
What I like about some options with the Sony/Cannon that my Olympus dosen't have, is the 9 point auto focus.

Good luck and let's see the pic's.

Hey Kingswood, that's my type of "5star" travelling, looks like there could be some amazing sunsets.

I've been taking some pics lately with my new camera. I'm still testing it out & all these new features like this super close up thingo, it's pretty awesome.

Well, this one was pretty random but I was testing out the super close up thingo & I was sitting on the grass so..... yeah..... grass...
