Looking through a few past winners they seem to have won in their second season.

AFL Coaches Association Best Young Player

The AFL Coaches Association Best Young Player Award is presented in recognition of the player based on performances in his first two seasons of AFL Football and is determined by the weekly votes of the AFL coaches.

Yep, you're right, emphasised on 360 just now. Surely Daicos is a shoe-in for next year then as he will be well ahead.

Much support for calling on the club to give him 35 if he wants it?

Liam Baker, most courageous. Wasn't he the guy that hit Ginnivan in the back of the head when he wasn't looking?

A guy called Nathan Buckley had a fabulous first season at Brisbane before he moved to a real club.

Nick Daicos to continue wearing the famous No.35?

Post by Take_a_Screamer »

Nick Daicos wants to permanently wear the famous No.35
I was interested in the history behind the no.35 and found many versions of this article (below) gone absolute viral.

"Prestigiacomo torn over Pies' No.35 jumper"

I did find a bit of history in the second link written in 2013 (with excerpt following).
Hope you find it interesting to see who has worn the jumper over the years..

also this: https://nick.magpies.net/club/jumper31-35.html

needs updating. i would like nick to have it for the rest of his career. we can honour presti in another way.

maybe unpopular opinion, i think it is time 42 is unretired but let that not distract from letting nick retain the 35 jumper.

Since 2013 it has been, in order,
Sharenberg
DeGoey
Sier
McLarty
Stephenson
IQ
Rantall
Henry

Many of those guys didn't play an AFL game in their first season. Much as I like the concept, I'd much prefer to see the 35 on Nicks back in the AFL team rather than spending most of it's time in the VFL

I say give 35 to Nick. Have an Annual clubman’s award to acknowledge Presti.

It is time to bring 42 back, and perhaps that can be given to the top recruit each year.
Magpies forever.
