Amazingly, it looks like Cox may be right to play this week, after apparently acquiring the level of fitness he had 5 weeks ago!

Incredibly, Kreuger has been cleared of any injury and will be available as well.

On that basis, I think we may make 2 changes.

In: Cox, Pendles

Out: Hill, Markov

Hill to replace Kelly as the sub.

Hill has been goaless for 2 rounds.
Elliott has kicked 1 goal in 3 rounds.
Small forwards need to be hitting the scoreboard.
Suspect 3 games within 17 days will take its toll on Elliott, and a rest is required.
That said, I'd love to be proven wrong.

Harvey Harrison and Joe Richards are lightning quick.
Macrae likes speed in his side.
I expect one of those to debut before the mid-season break, and Harrison might be a smokey for this week or next.
Murley too will be under consideration.

If we're going to continue to improve, integrity of selection is paramount.

I think selection integrity sees Carmichael, McRae and Allen next up. Richard’s still coming back from a “medium” hammy I think.

Not sure what they do with those small forwards. Perhaps Elliott would benefit from a spell? Someone will have to make way for Pendles and maybe Cox…

Elliott is sore. I think his fumbling is due to soreness in bending down. Richards not back till round 10-11 due to hamstring. Coxy is only 50/50 to be fit enough for this week. I can’t see Hill being dropped. The small forward goal drought is a combination of no tall forwards to feed off and opposition teams flooding our fifty and intercept marking to exploit our height problem. Plus Elliott sore and Ginni yet to find form. Once we get a resting ruckman and another tall forward the goals will come. We are being flooded every week now.

Let’s be honest, Hill’s dribble goal attempt didn’t turn cos of the slippery grass, and his set shot routine from 20-40m is usually money. Mail those opportunities and he snags two goals. He stays.

Seriously, I'm FIIK who gets dropped to make way for Pendles and Cox.

Whoever misses will be very unlucky.

I hope Mason Cox and Scott Pendlebury are both fit enough to be brought into the team to play Swans on Sunday.
Those to make way would be Kreuger (omitted) Jamie Elliot (rested) if he is in fact sore or crook. Kelly or Ruscoe to be the Sub.

Don't agree with you Rudeboy. Markov played a great game, can make mistakes but fits in with our backline press, is hard at it and has some pace. Hill just had a bad day. If Cox is available I would leave Kreugher out to get used to the pace in the VFL and have Kelly as our tactical sub. For Pendles I wouldn't know who to drop :)

I agree with most of that Mossi. I reckon Markov is doing a great job. The truth is, anyone who is dropped will feel very hard done by. No-one deserves to be dropped, but nevertheless, we will need to drop 2 to bring in Cox and Pendles.

On form, Kreuger should be dropped, but structurally, it would be good to have his presence up forward for a whole game. It would benefit all our other forwards, especially Checkers.

On reflection, Markov could be the injury sub this week. I'd prefer him to both Kelly or Ruscoe because of his pace.

One thing's for certain, Fly and the match committee have a very difficult job to do this week, and I suspect it's only going to get harder, as players return from injury, while we want to give some of our up and coming talent like Allan, Richards and Harrison some senior games experience.

Yep, Cox crucial if genuinely fit. But it still might take time for him to ease back in, so be understanding, folks.

Have a feeling both Begg and Cox play VFL this week. No need to rush Cox straight in at 6-1 we can afford that.

Pendles is straight back in. Kelly needs to go back to VFL for more form.

Carmichael started last match and would be a good inclusion given the struggles of some smaller forwards.

It looks like Cox is a 50:50 prospect. Given Krueger is out, it must make it tantalising for bringing him back straight away.

Manage his game time if needed. Will contribute more than poor old Freddy has in the last 2 weeks. Can potentially sub him off at half time if needed - which probably means you want to keep Kelly as the sub again.

I know they're not played in the same positions, but does Elliott get a spell for Pendles? Dont think they will drop WHE.
