Agree we might have "another old guy"- we might have another flag too! Its always such a balance between the here and now and the future. Keeping all the +30 year old players tells me thatthe club is more focussed on 2025 than anything else.Gerry Cooper wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2024 2:43 pm and after that we have another old bloke on our hands. Dunno, now im going a bit cold on Petracca, his injury sounds very serious, might be a big risk taking him, bit dicey now, all things being considered.
Was a while ago now, seemed to be based on the idea that he was being underpaid at the Pies. Possibly just management shenanigans.

Well Im sure we have our targets and some kind of plan going into trade and draft time. Still the club would be silly not to reach out and see if he has any thoughts on leaving. I think many here are in the same boat. We would all want him, but dont want to sell the future for it.

It's an enticing prospect, but we just don't have the trade capital to make it happen as it stands.Presti35 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2024 10:33 pm Well Im sure we have our targets and some kind of plan going into trade and draft time. We also need to consider the question as to whether Petracca comes back the same player after his horrific ruptured spleen injury.

Re: Get Petracca
Petracca is untouchable; he signed a bumper contract with this deadbeats which is too complex to reneg on; too bad, so sad. Stop dreaming.

Currently being reported that Petracca has told the Dees he wants to play elsewhere in 2025.

Re: Get Petracca
Absolutely worth every cent, but at his age and the cost of the contract then we shouldn't be expected to pay over the top.
2-3 years ago, absolutely you'd want 2 first round picks and some, but not now.

Re: Thinking ahead to 2024 draft...(and beyond)
Petracca- please....
How do we do it?? Pay Graeme Wright to come back to broker the deal- whatever it takes...
Would we lose a star player and some draft picks??- yep- no omelettes without breaking a few eggs...
Lynch- Please...
How would we do it?? Take on all of his salary and back end his contract...Pay him $500K year one and $1.5 Million in Year two (when all of Howe,Elliott, Cox, Sidebottom and Pendlebury have retired...)

Firm in the belief that number 17 flag is only months away...

Seems the media is pushing for Carlton to nab the Petracca ~

Let them try to take the shortcut, again. Yes, G.Williams won them the flag; along with the salary cap breaches that led them to the wilderness where they've remained ever since. Even Judd's second coming couldn't save them. If they want him they can have him. Whatever we do I hope we're smart enough to not get drawn into a bidding war.

Re: Get Petracca
End of the day, it’s a no brainier if they can swap McKay for Petracca given they have TDK and Curnow. What talls do we have to trade? Zilch.

If we take on Lynch it would be a ballsy move and likely a disaster. How many old broken down players do we want.

I Begg to differ...oh wait...
How about we meet them half way...in a roundabout way. Forget Petracca and go De Goey for McKay? McKay is 27 in December, 204cm tall (didn't realize he was such a big unit).
