Finch bungles his fielding, running around the ball and chasing it to be boundary unsuccessfully. Stokes is 49*. Lyon is bowling well, though.

---------------------------

In the 26th over, broadcast predictor: England 21%, Oz 79%.

Stokes reaches 50. England 4/111 (25.2).

Buttler smokes Stoinis for 4.

---------------------------

The England physio works on the right calf of Stokes. Now the left. Stokes eats a banana.

cricinfo forecasts England 28%.

Oz need wickets.

Buttler holes out off Stoinis. The catcher running from the square leg boundary is Khawaja. That was a good catch.

England 5/124 (27.2).

That is a huge wicket. Woakes comes in.

cricinfo's forecast drops from England 31% to 14%.

& wickets they get. Well done Stoinis.

It was the Butler wot done it. Great catch against the boundary.

Now I'm off to bed!!

5-124.

Khawaja holds the ball up in triumph after taking the catch. Stoinis is delighted. He and Smith embrace.

Odds: England 16%, Oz 84%.
.........................................

And Maxwell comes on to bowl the 29th over. Athers suggests Lyon is being held back for Moeen. Lyon has bowled well enough to deserve a wicket, I reckon. He has 4 overs left.

-------------------------------

Stokes has skipped down the pitch regularly. Must be a plan of his.

In the 30th over, Smith misses the stumps again. Woakes would have been out easily. This throw was overarm. The first miss was underarm. Where is Maxwell fielding? He's the best of this bunch at hitting the stumps.

Maxwell bowls a long hop and Stokes hits it for 6.
Two balls later, Stokes sweeps another. Only 62m. Tiny boundaries.

At 5/141 at the start of the 32nd over, the broadcast predictor says England 14%, Oz 86%.

But the RRR is low.

Odds: England 14%, Oz 86%.
..........................................

Stokes is cramping. Slater talks about pickle juice. Yes, he's right, I can confirm. Stokes had that physio work earlier. No runners are allowed under current laws. This could help Oz.

--------------------------------------------------------

Cummins comes back for the 34th over. They want another wicket.

Woakes hits a 4.

The commentators think the balls have got a bit softer.

Stokes hits a 4. 9 off the over. :(

Stokes is nearing a century.

He hits two 4s off the first three balls of the Cummins over.

Now Woakes hits a 4.

13 off the over. :(

Starc bowls the 37th over. Can he get a wicket?

Slater: "At the moment, Stokes has got control."

...

Slater: "Where's the wicket coming (from)?"

And on demand, the very next ball, Starc rips a yorker through Stokes to knock over his stumps.

His late overs are lethal, Starc. Another reason to have Behrendorff bowl plenty of overs at the start.

England 6/178 (37).

Stokes, 11 short of a century, dropped his bat, and kicked it away in disappointment.

It will be very hard for England now.

Broadcast predictor: England 8%, Oz 92%.

Odds: England 11%, Oz 89%.

Behrendorff gets Moeen caught behind, the ball after being hit for 4.

England 7/189 (39.3).

It's lights out for England.

M. Taylor says he was surprised they went with Behrendorff instead of NCN, but it was widely predicted in the media -- and NCN has been bowling rubbish.

Brilliant team catch on the boundary from Maxwell-Finch!
Just brilliant, and totally planned, easily executed.

Off the bat, it loooked like Woakes had hit a 6.
Maxwell took the ball approaching the boundary and nonchalantly tossed it to Finch before he crossed over.

Brilliant.

No huge celebrations from either. Maxwell and Finch knew exactly what they wanted to do and did it without fuss.

England 7/202 (41.3).

Look for the video if you haven't seen it.

Archer holes out off Behrendorff. Behrendorff has 5/43 (9.3).

England 9/211 (43.3).

Behrendorff holds the ball up to acknowledge his 5-for. He finishes with 5/44 (10).

-------------------------

Next over, bowled by Starc, Rashid goes 4, 4, dot, out.

England all out 221 (44.4). Oz win by 64 runs & seal a SF spot.

Behrendorff & Starc finished with a combined 9/87 (18.4).

----------------------------------

Oz were helped by the swing. We'll have to see how they go when there's nothing for the bowlers. (But they have time and games to work on that now.) Hope Starc does not get injured. (His left elbow is taped up every game. They claim that's precautionary. And the commentators were speculating about his knee or hamstring during the game.) His yorker to bowl Stokes was brutal.

The Oz batting in the last 10-15 overs is still a big worry. Meanwhile Wade is smashing the (lower-quality) bowling around the country, but that's as an opener.

But England have bigger worries now. They are flat-track bullies, but have to secure their SF place before dreaming about more flat pitches.

So, Finch is POTUS, again. Behrendorf was a bit unlucky to miss that award but given how most batsmen struggled on both sides, it was another big effort from the Captain. Meanwhile, Warner has become the first player to reach 500 in the tournament with yet another 50. Finch has been named POTUS 3 times in the tournament - but even he hasn’t quite kept pace with Warner, so far. Given that England’s plan was obviously to try to get through Australia’s top order with the favourable early conditions, the immensity of that opening stand is plain - all the more so because what came after from the Australian batsmen was a bit of a disappointment.

Pre-game odds:

NZ 55%, Pakistan 45%
WI 27%, India 73%
SL 34%, S. Africa 66%

--------------------------

We know Oz have made the SFs. Afghanistan & S. Africa cannot make them. If we pretend that India & NZ are also certain to make the SFs, the odds of the other teams getting the final SF berth are:

England 61%
Pakistan 18%
Bangladesh 10%
Sri Lanka 10%
WI 2%.

If those are fair odds, England need not panic but might feel a little uneasy.

--------------------------

Odds to win WC:

India 29%
Australia 28%
England 22%
New Zealand 13%
Pakistan 5%
Bangladesh 2%
Sri Lanka 1%
West Indies 0.3%.

You could say that the money thinks that if England make it to the SFs they are better than a 1-in-3 chance of winning the WC, while Oz is worse than a 1-in-3 chance.

Four weeks ago, NZ were given an 8% chance, so their unbeaten month has less than doubled their chances in the eyes of the money.
