#29 Ryan Cook

Post by The Evil Kinevil »

Name: Ryan Cook
DOB: 16th of February 1988
Height: 186cm
Weight: 79kg
Recruited From: Dandenong Stingrays

Bio: Ryan Cook was the 23 player selected in the 2005 National Draft, and the 4th by Collingwood. The Magpies recruiting staff were very impressed with his 2005 TAC Cup grand final performance, where he gathered 19 disposals and kicked three goals in the losing Dandenong Stingrays side.
He has played 13 matches for Williamstown seniors kicking 5 goals against Sandringham, and finishing the year with 11 goals, even though his season was interupted by niggling injuries.

Opinions from:
Matt Burgan: "Although he has another year in the TAC Cup, Cook is not without a chance of being drafted, with several clubs interested in the hard-at-it midfielder/forward. Port Adelaide, Sydney and Geelong are all believed to be interested in him. He played in Dandenong's losing grand final against Gippsland, yet he managed three goals and 19 touches to be among his side's best at the MCG. "

Collingwood Website: Cook spent his first season at the club playing for VFL affiliate Williamstown, and started slowly in the midfield before being moved forward where he found his spot. Booted five goals against Sandringham in round nine to show his true ability, but his season was interrupted by a couple of injuries. Lively player with good pace and excellent endurance, will be looking to push hard for senior selection in 2007.

Ryan Cook has displayed natural ability & talent. He is still one of the youngest draftees in 2005. Some good players in the past have gone tru the 2nd year blues, so we have to wait and see what this season unfolds.

Congrats to the little old guy. Really well done.

Now lets see all the replies roll in, they have been pretty minimal this year.
