Damien Martyn will make a great bowling all rounder in the Australian team Image

I think Damien Martyn has to realise that you can use up valuable dot balls and go along at a snails pace just to suit yourself.

I hope Damien can turn things around and get back to his best

Martyo is struggling at the moment and I think you have to stick with him.

who do you replace him with? I can't find anyone who is clearly better than him thats not already in the team.

i hope u mean "cant"

i think as an alrounder he's 1 of those guys that sure can bowl but should only have 3 or 4 overs a match if australia are starved for bowlers and are in troulbe on the score board to see if a little bowling change can turn things around, but i really cant see him turn into an alrounder

Martyn is in terrible form in both 1 dayers and tests.

Fradam, u said we have to stick with him cause u can't find a replacement better than him. Remember what dropping Brett Lee did for him. 21 wickets in his next 2 first class matches. Why not give Martyn a rest? Bring in Michael Clarke, let him gain some much needed experience, and hope that Martyn can start to gain some form at state level, and start moving his feet again.

No point playing a guy not in the world cup squad. It's a waste of time. If you want to blood players for the future you do that after the world cup.

I reckon the best way to get him into form is to use him as an opener. It worked for Lehmann, he'll be able to have a nice long innings.

Martyn most certainly isn't in his best form! I agree that he is definately a better test player than a one day player, he is just too slow! However, I don't know if dropping him would help, this is definately a tough one. He has had his chances to stand up and prove himself lately but he just hasn't! It will be interesting to see how he goes. I hope he goes well I do like Damien a lot!

Congratulations to Damien Martyn! We have all been a little critical of him lately for good reason but he definately stood up today and it is safe to say he saved Australia! He had a good partnership with Bevan and then Maher just came out and supported him brilliantly! Congratulations to Maher he was entertaining to watch and helped Martyn score his century! Martyn has had a few opportunities now to take control and he finally did it today! I am so so so so so so so so so so so so happy for him! Keep it up Damien, you're a champ! Image

Wise words, Fradam.

Well played Marto. An excellent innings without the hint of a slog! That's the way this bloke plays - usually in support of the more flamboyant batsmen around him but today he just kept his head and did the job.

It must have been a good knock. Only got to hear it on the radio but it appears that maybe he is returning to form.

It was a great day,the weather was beautiful, the cricket great(well at times it was looking as tho the english would win) but the aussies won woooohoooooo!!!!!!!!!!!.

Hey mollymagic. Glad you enjoyed the day. That Bellerive Oval sure is a picturesque setting for a cricket ground.

I was there some years back when Alan Border hit his 70th. and last first class century. It was for Queensland against Tassie. He had supported Stuart Law to a very stylish ton and Jimmy Maher then supported him as he chipped away towards his.

When he got to 90, the kids near me were yelling out, "Come on, AB, hit a four and a six!!" I thought that highly unlikely but he on drove a scintillating four from the end of one over and was facing the then Tassie skipper, Rod Tucker, for the third ball of the next.

Tucked bounced him. AB just grinned and hooked it towards his team-mates dressing room. It crashed into a plastic seat just below the big dressing room window and about 5 metres from where I was sitting!! One of my most cherished cricket memories.

gobbles21 - marto in terrible test form? probably needed to make a hundred (i think 95 was his top score of the summer) but he averaged 40 for the ashes series and, from memory, is batting at about 47 for his career. hardly bad form.

i think martyn is a great d/n and test player,he is in good form with the bat,and also when asked to bowl he is usually economical with his bowling,i think he is 1 of our best batsman over the past 1 or 2 yrs.

cheers bryan..!!
